The Use of Word Processor

Lesson Plan for students of SMA grade 10, with only one computer available for all students

I will use the Word Processor in the first classroom context which contains 40 students with one computer. I teach Narrative and descriptive writing for senior high students, grade 10. Here, I describe the procedure of the activity.

1. First, I provide the text of narrative and descriptive text into the word processor.
2. Then, I will divide the class into 8 groups of 5 students.
3. After that, I provide 10 minutes per group for checking, analyzing the errors and giving list of new vocabularies and comments.
4. It must be submitted through the word processor and saved.
5. Then, I will check all the submission which is saved into the processor for each group.
6. Finally, I will give them scoring by the rubric which I provide.


For the second activity, I choose application letter writing as the material.
Here, the procedure

1. I will divide them into 8 groups of 5 students.
2. Then, I ask them to write an application letter on their paper for 25 minutes.
3. Then, I will give 10 minutes for each group to type the application letter which has been finished into word processor.
4. It must be saved per group.
5. Then, I will check all the submissions and scoring through the rubric.

The third activity, I use describing picture as the material.
Here, the procedure

1. I will provide 8 document files of word processor.
2. Then I fill the picture into each file.
3. I named the files by numbering 1 up to 8.
4. Then I divide the class into 8 groups of 5 students.
5. I provide per each group 15 minutes to open one file.
6. Then, I asked them to describe the picture into one paragraph.
7. The students ( per each group ) must type the paragraph at the below of the picture.
8. Then, it must be saved.
9. Finally, I check all the files which has been filled by the students’ task (paragraph writing), and I will give the score through the rubric.


Lesson Plan for 40 students of SMP grade 7, with one computer for three students

I will use the Word Processor in the second classroom context for 40 students of SMP grade 7, with one computer for three students
1. First, I provide the text of narrative and descriptive text into the word processor.
2. Then, I will divide the class into the groups which contain 3 members.
3. After that, I provide 10 minutes per group for checking, analyzing the errors and giving list of new vocabularies and comments.
4. It must be submitted through the word processor and saved.
5. Then, I will check all the submission which is saved into the processor for each group.
6. Finally, I will give them scoring by the rubric which I provide.


For the second activity, I choose private letter writing as the material.
Here, the procedure

1. I will divide them into groups of three members.
2. Then, I will give 30 minutes for each group to type the private letter.
3. It must be saved per group.
4. Then, I will check all the submissions and scoring through the rubric.

The third activity, I use describing picture as the material.
Here, the procedure

1. I will provide a picture in a word processor file in the computer
2. Then I divide the class into groups of 3 students.
3. I provide one computer for each group.
4. Then, I asked them to describe the picture into one paragraph (at least 10 – 15 sentences).
5. The students ( per each group ) must type the paragraph at the below of the picture.
6. Then, it must be saved.
7. Finally, I check all the files which has been filled by the students’ task (paragraph writing), and I will give the score through the rubric.

Lesson Plan for 25-30 students of SMA grade 10, with one computer for one student

I will use the Word Processor for 25-30 students of SMA grade 10, with one computer for one student.

1. First, I provide the text of narrative and descriptive text into the word processor and save it into the file of word processor.
2. Then, I ask the students to operate the computer.
3. After that, I provide 45 minutes for each student for checking, analyzing the errors and giving list of new vocabularies and comments.
4. It must be submitted through the word processor and saved.
5. Then, I will check all the submission which is saved into the processor for each group.
6. Finally, I will give them scoring by the rubric which I provide.


For the second activity, I choose private letter writing as the material.
Here, the procedure

1. First, I ask the students to operate the computer.
2. Then, I will give 30 minutes for each student to type the private letter.
3. It must be saved into one file.
4. Then, I will check all the submissions and scoring through the rubric.

The third activity, I use describing picture as the material.
Here, the procedure

1. I will provide a picture in a word processor file in the word processor
2. Then I ask the students to operate the computer and find the file.
3. Then, I asked them to describe the picture into one paragraph (at least 10 – 15 sentences).
4. The students must type the paragraph at the below of the picture, and submit the work by saving the file, individually.
5. Finally, I check all the files which has been filled by the students’ task (paragraph writing), and I will give the score through the rubric.
